Comments on south:

- 4♥ is an overbid, though just by a little.

- 4♥ is a misbid, south should (if forcing to game) bid 3♠ which might slow north down as matching singletons are not a good thing.

 

Comments on north:

- I become more and more convinced every day that minor suit raises (definitely game forcing, and maybe invitational) should be allowed to have a 4 card major. What kind of description is bidding 1♥ as north when this is probably our hand?

- Why not bid 6♦ as a choice of contracts? I strongly believe when it is likely to be a playable contract, as here where north may have lost his chance to show a diamond fit, that these bids should be offers to play and not esoteric third round control asks. South could have bad hearts too like KQx Kxxx KJTx AK where if you must play slam 6♦ (or notrump) is far better.

Bidding books for beginners usually say that using blackwood with two quick losers in a suit is wrong. This hand is why. Just a 4♠ cue seems right, and then both players should realize the lack of a club control before getting over 5♥.

Agree with jdonn, south should bid 3H and if he wants to force to game then 3S. AKQJ of trumps is not a good holding.

 

Jdonn- I always agree with you about 4cM and longer minors starting with a forcing raise, but if you try to make it happen in your forcing raise structure it does end up as a nightmare. Obv it's doable but you'd think it'd be simpler.

 

That being said the north hand is not really a GF so whatever. I actually think it's fine to start with 1H, both hands have more room to describe eventually. The question is which leaves you better placed over preemption obv.
