Echognome
As long as we are going with hypotheticals, how about these? ♠AKQx♥xxxxx♦x♣Axx 1. Your call over opponent's 1♦ opening? 2. Your call over opponent's 1♣ opening? Feel free to indicate any changes due to vulnerability over form of scoring.
gwnn
double over 1♦, 1♥ over 1♣. I would like to play 4+♠5+♥ michaels on just this one hand then change back to regular.
jdonn
Yay for me! Double 1♦, 1♥ over 1♣.
Siegmund
Unless you have something in your system bag for handling 4-5s, double and 1H is obvious. (Thinly veiled brag: with my reg p, I do :) )
Echognome
No matchpoint considerations?
gwnn
I just like to bid my hand.... usually.. I guess at MP 1♠ has more merit than at imp... but still pretty bad and all.
jjbrr
dbl over 1♦; 1♥ over 1♣
minimonkey
Guess I will dissent, X over 1D is pretty clearcut. I would bid 1S over 1C but not really sure why, I would rather have those spades in the auction than those hearts. Spades probably won't plat too well on diamond forces mind. No real logic behind this choice, just what I would do as I attempt to overcall 1S as often as possible.

mich-b
dbl over 1♦; 1♥ over 1♣this.
Free
After 1♦ Dbl is clear. After 1♣:2004 1♥2007 2♣ showing 44+M2010 1♠ or pass planning to Dbl later2013 ???
hanp
Double 1♦, 1♥ over 1♣. me too and I think it is rather obvious.
hanp
No matchpoint considerations? What, no, why? You gave us far too good a hand to do anything but bid our longest suit over 1C. And over 1D a takeout double is just too obvious.
Phil
Echo (sorry) the others. 1♠ overcall over 1♣ has some superficial appeal, but why can't we expect that this is our hand? I mean, maybe after pard had already passed and we didn't have the ♣A.
j0i
I would dbl over 1♦ and bid 1♥ in IMPs against 1♣ but 1♠ in matchpoints
kenrexford
I'd double over either minor. If partner bids diamonds at a high level, I know he has a sense of humor, considering what seat he is sitting in, unless we met at the partnership desk. jdonn
Ken please don't give an answer like that in a thread that is supposed to be in my honor. You disgrace my good name.

If you put a diamond next to a diamond, neither seems to dazzle as much as when you put either next to a plain stone.
peachy
Dbl over 1D; 1H over 1C. I would not criticize much if 1H over either, but I like Dbl better on the 1D.
