no blame 2

Hi,

#1 2H was fine, it is of course a matter of agreement, but for us 2H would be

normal and ok.

#2 3H is ok, ..., you have an opening bid, even if you subtract the king you

have to make a move.

3C should show heart fit (or at least tolerance) and some values, basically

at leats inv., so I prefer 3C to 3H.

#3 X is bidding your hand twice, and basically hanging p for reopening.

Of course, if you have agreed, that 2H showes more, than the 2H bidder is

to balme, but even if South has the jack of hearts and diamonds, and not 2H

becomes reasonable to obvious, the X is still garbage.

With kind regards

Marlowe

I like wests bidding.

I hate Easts passive bidding that deserved to write a bottom fr +170 opposite +420.

I understood 2 Heart at mps, I would hate to bid and hate to pass, so what shall we do?

I understood 3 and x from north. It was mps, not imps, going passive is not always the way to win a board. This time partner had real submin. for his bid.

Give him one of east aces and West is done by brute force despite his singelton Heart.

East is a novice, who should have caught partner with Jxxxx AKQxx Kx x

S is hyper-aggressive..... I have sympathy for 2, but the risk of over-competition on this hand is very real.

3 is insane. Either pass or 3 would be far better....3 should imply some heart tolerance (not necessarily AQ of course) since N couldn't bid directly over 1 yet bids over 2...something has caused N to upgrade. I can't tell if I'd bid 3 or pass, having seen the hands.

If N did bid 3 and West bid 3, I have great sympathy for the double. Why assume that partner has a defensive horror? And we may need to get 300 to protect our plus score. At imps, the double would be the worst call in the auction (ok, the second worst...that pass by East makes me want to puke), but mps is a different game.

I hope josh that you don't mean that north has to pass over 2, he has to act IMO

I hope Josh means exactly that.

Basically by insisting N pass over 2 you are saying S can hold no opening hands for his 2 call. If you allow for the possibility of an opening hand then pass over 2 is a non sequitur. N will need to either X for penalties or make a call.

We could look at Josh's clarification instead of guessing what he meant!
