gwnn
QKJxKQJ75Q9xx 1♦ passed out, them unfavourable at pairs!! what's your lead?
Fluffy
low diamond is going for the jackpot, I prefer a more conservative club lead, stablish our suit before deciding to pull trumps or not.
helene_t
I will try a passive lead. Either spade or club.
whereagles
spade. Wanna make 1-2 ruffs to avoid a trump endplay later.
jdonn
I want to lead a diamond but tough choice between low and king. Ugh.... I'm going king for a little less risk, and maybe declarer is 4432, or maybe I'm just the man and T98 fall in the other hands. I don't want him getting ruffs in either hand if I can help it. Jlall
I would never have considered a low diamond lead, put me down for the K
MFA
♦K. Most of the time the defense should draw trumps so this seems like a good start.
peachy
DK, the normal lead. Let him do the rest of the work without help.

Definitely helps to know how the opps are playing 1♦ and since it wasn't provided I didn't answer although my gut reaction was to lead the K♦. barryallen
This would not surprise me to find ♦4-3 with the opps, what ever way round. Definitely want to play ♦ and restrict the ruffing and would play small. Really not sure on this lead and have this over whelming fear of giving away tricks what ever. Should really start with a ♦ honour, but feel partner may have a singleton ♦ of some value and a line of spades to nothing. Obviously got this wrong from the title! Fluffy
I guess it depends on style, but from barry's words, I think it is much more likelly to find dummy with singleton diamond than partner, my partners are agressive reopening with shortness. mikeh
Diamond K looks clear...a low diamond is playing for a specific, improbable layout, whereas the K may hit a home run anyway and, if not, may well gain in tempo what it loses in the trump suit itself. In addition, it is not as if any other lead stands out...any suit I lead could blow a trick and/or a tempo. So make the 'obvious' lead. BTW, while it is probable that declarer has a hand too big to open 1N, if he doesn't then we can assume that partner has some diamond length due to his non-balance, and now a small diamond is silly....we deserve to find declarer with the equivalent of A10x opposite xx. whereagles
If you wanna lead a diamond, the small diamond is the book lead, which caters for a singleton T in pard. Still, I don't think it's all that likely that declarer has only 3 diamonds.
MFA
If you wanna lead a diamond, the small diamond is the book lead, which caters for a singleton T in pard.It may be the book lead if we want to establish the suit in notrumps. But here either we or declarer might later get ruff(s), so the deep tricks in diamonds might not matter. If we give declarer a cheap trick by leading low, it's very likely just a lost trick, which would usually not be the case in notrumps. gwnn
pd is KJTx Txx x Jxxxx. whenever declarer plays on hearts (he has AQx) I need to unblock one of my honours to let in p to play some spades. The lead was mostly irrelevant though, I think..
