Punished for 'nice' bidding...

The first hand I had today in a tourney, off for a great start - not:

[hv=d=s&v=e&n=st82hakt92dcqjt73&w=sa4h76543dq83cak4&e=skqj953hdak752c92&s=s76hqj8djt964c865]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv]

Bidding (playing 4 card Majors):

pass - 1 - 2 - Dbl

pass - 2 - pass - 3

pass - 3NT - pass - 4

pass - 5 - pass - 6

all pass

1 = 4+

Dbl = 9+, doesn't need (but usually has them)

2 = nat, didn't want to bid 2 with such garbage

3 = general GF

3NT = at least a control

4 = minorwood

5 = 2 keycards with Q

Q was lead, and it looked quite good. 4-1 or 3-2 split and it's laydown. But noooooooooo, they had to be 5-0, to give me an impossible contract :D

Imo, 6 is safer (and collects more), but also impossible on this hand.

-100 - boohoo :D

well buddy, you know what i'm gonna say :D ... west opens

1nt : 2d = game force

2s : 2nt = 4+ hearts not 4 spades

3nt : 4c = 2533, control ask

4s : 4nt = 5, spiral

5c

here's where it gets interesting.. east knows you have the spade A, the club A, K, and no heart honors, so he's gonna bid 6S i imagine (i would).. it's down probably, but i still think the bidding was correct

If you play in a good field everybody will do pretty much the same.

But if you play a different system compared to rest of the field, you will create many swings. Some good some bad.

As long as the the good outscore the bad you do good.
