mikeh
spades will usually be 4=1=5=3 around the table (inferences like this can be dangerous against weak players) and partner rates to hold the club A and at leas another card, since he expected you to run 10 winners in 3N. I wish I knew if partner held 4+ clubs....but we are not down yet even if we have a club loser...and I have no way of finding out. Since partner is short in spades, that seems to me to increase the chances of the 4th club over there...and if not, maybe the suit is 3=1. So I can't bid less than 6♣, and afterwards, if it makes, give silent thanks to the opps for drawing a roadmap (and gnash my teeth if partner has 2 spades and we fail)
Fluffy
I tried 5♥ thinking that maybe I could stop in 5NT or even play 7, anyway partner just bid 6♣. He held ♠Kx♥1098x♦Kxx♣Jxxx Partner was defending against 4♠ wich he though must be cold with his hand.

I see why he'd think that with Kx of spades (after we showed a stopper), some possible heart help, and no values in clubs, and generally as defensive a hand as possible.
