kfay
K953 AQ1098 865 6 Partner opens 1♣ 3rd seat r/w, you bid 1♥, he bids 2♥. Disclaimer... pretty sure this particular partner has only 3 hearts like 60% of the time! (And not necessarily THAT unbalanced).
Jlall
I would just game try if he has 3 hearts that often.
georgeac
in this sequence if 2♥ can be 3 card support i have played a relay with some partners that asks 3 or 4 card support and minimum or maximum hcp. as for game try or not, dont have much advice lol
mcphee
I would make a help suit try of 3D I suspect. I also use a relay but that may not be of any useful information. Partners who have opened 1C in third and then raised usually have decent hands.
peachy
When partner who opens 1m in third seat and then raises instead of passing or rebidding the minor, he/shehas at least a full opener so game should be on with this responder hand if only we could find out whether diamonds are leaking three tricks. I would bid 3D and assume it is HSGT.
dbsboy
Does that mean this problem is more difficult if partner is an unpassed hand? (since I reckon people on the forums play 3♦ as forcing to game) imho I will bid 3♦ (help suit hopefully!) but bid 3♥ if I am an unpassed hand (a light 5+card invite in my system)
1eyedjack
I would not treat bids below 3 of agreed major as GF even opposite a non-passed hand, even if new suit at 3 level.
Siegmund
I think it's worth a game try, but am surprised to see everybody trying with diamonds rather than spades. You'd much rather see partner upgrade his SQ and SJ than his DQ and DJ.
1eyedjack
I agree with Siegmund. It is flavour of the decade to make your game try in the suit most exposed to losers, which has merit. But in my style partner could raise 1H to 2H with 3 card support and a 4 card Spade suit. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I have to make a game try in Spades to have a chance of ending up there. P_Marlowe
Sure, a game try, but one, which allowes you to play 3H. B) And I would also only make a game try, if I am 100% sure he always has 4 card support, one reason is the club shortage. Best would be a game try, which showes the club shortage, butshowing spade values, would be fine as well. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: And if I would be playing with this partner, than I would makesure, that we have artifical support, to find out, if the raise was based on a 3 carder, the alternative would be, that he stops raisingme with 3 cards.I will give him those two alternatives, if he refuses to choose either of them, I would stop playing with him in seious compüetions. Tomi2
my pd already accepted a gametry by not passing 1h - so i try the game now but investigate a spade fit before if he really can have 4 spades and 3 hearts - else i just bid 4h
