Ant590
Hey y'all, This might be one of those "depends on your agreements" ones, but here goes anyway... [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sjt4hq2dkqj765ck2]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You deal and open 1♦ (showing 5 unless 4441 black singleton). 1♦ -- (1♥) -- 3♠* -- (4♥)? * GF fit jump, 2/4 or 3/5 top spade honours in a 5+ suit, at least 4 card diamond support. 2♠ would also have been a fit jump but could be more-lead oriented. 3♠ declares it's our hand and sets up a FP... Which action do you choose?
jonottawa
4♥ is a transfer to 4♠, or something. Both sides appear to have monster 2-suit fits. Am I really going to pass and sit for pard's double or pass and pull, presumably showing extras? 4♠
Codo
I would show m partner the double fit and this has nothing to do with agreements. What else?Double with a double fit and zero sure defensive trick?Pass and play 5 diamond- what partner will often bid after I have shown no fit in spades? Sorry, I see no real problem so far. P_Marlowe
4S. WTP, sry you have a spade fit, hence a double fit, and you dont want to inviteslam, so 4S it is. With kind regardsMarlowe
mikegill
This is an easy 4♠ bid. Double game swings are bad.
jjbrr
This is an easy 4♠ bid. +
mikeh
I don't understand the problem. Would anyone in their right mind defend? And since pass and pull traditionally shows extras, passing is idiotic. So we have the world's easiest 4♠ bid.....happy that the bidding has justified our horrible (but unavoidable) opening bid. Jlall
Yep 4S, they are very likely to make and if they're down somehow then you are very likely to make.
peachy
Since we established GF, FP would apply by my agreements. 4S is clear. Passing and and then pulling would show a bigger/better hand that is suitable for both offense and defense. This hand is way better for offence than defence with the known doublefit. I wouldn't even care whether 4H makes or goes down.
neilkaz
Clear 4♠ for me. With no aces this doesn't seem like the time to pass and pull. Hopefully PD can now be involved in making the correct decision over 5♥
jdonn
FP should deny a spade fit (unless you are going to slam try or something). Otherwise partner must always bid 4♠ if he is going to pull when you pass and you lose all definition in his bid.
gwnn
4♠ i will make a FP on the 5 level... the night's still young
