You can click on the yellow wheel button in the bottom of your screen - that opens the Options menu. One of the tabs in that menu is for sound - check if you ticked all the alerts you need, maybe you disabled them by accident. Of course, given that the first thing I do with any software whose job isn't "make noise" is "turn the $#%^ing crap off", I may have a non-standard opinion here...
