rogerclee
I was watching Fred and Brad play bridge and Brad had xx Axxx xxx AQxx and in second seat it was P P 3H 4SP ? Brad tanked for forever and bid 5N. Personally I don't like this bid (at all) and was discussing with Justin whether it was worth 5C and eventually decided it was. This is a different auction, but the whole point is, yes, North should have bid again, and it was pretty obvious.
Free
North definitely has another bid, what does he expect partner to hold for vulnerable jump to 4♠?
Codo
1. b..s... edited 2. North has 2 tricks + the queen of clubs. He does not know that the queen of heart is of value. I doubt that partner is expecting less after they preempted. 3. Your trump holding could be much better. I would not bid on, this hand is VERY different from the one Brad hold.Make it A, xxxx, AQxx, Qxxx and I would make a move. gwnn
looks to me that any non spade lead is good Codo? Anywayyy I wouldn't have moved from North. when you have stiff Ace there's a significant % that you have a trump loser.

whereagles
Brad tanked for forever and bid 5N. 5NT??? as judge, I would qualify murder of brad by fred as "fully justified"

Yes, agree, add to this the fact, that they usually dont jump aroundmissing AKQx in their trump suit, even being green vs. red, so AQxxhave to be viewed are wasted values, even if you take into accountpositional factors. With kind regardsMarlowe
kgr
Make it A, xxxx, AQxx, Qxxx and I would make a move. I was North and this was also my thought.Partner can also have for his 4♠ bid:♠KQJxxxx♥x♦AQx♣AxThen 5♠ is in danger.Or:♠KQJxxxx♥♦AJx♣AxxThen 5♠ needs a ♥ lead
jjbrr
Yes, North should have bid again, and it was pretty obvious. 4♠ shows a strong hand and 2 aces and some stuff is definitely worth some noise from you.

Edit.... or just a club finesse!! :)
fred
I was watching Fred and Brad play bridge and Brad had xx Axxx xxx AQxx and in second seat it was P P 3H 4SP ? Brad tanked for forever and bid 5N. Personally I don't like this bid (at all) and was discussing with Justin whether it was worth 5C and eventually decided it was.Agree that 5C would have been a better bid than 5NT, but in fairness to Brad my 4S bid was very questionable. The full deal is available here: Link to deal Note that I made a subtle error late in the play that, had I avoided it, would have allowed me to get out for "only" -500 in a rather pretty and unusual way :) Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
Jlall
If you can make game opposite very little you should bid game, I have always believed that and am always amazed by how strong the forums will make a simple overcall with over a preempt rather than just bidding game. That being said partner in this deal has a huge and and should make a move.
