no blame. both players have nice maximums for their actions and a near perfect fit. I guess N could be blamed a little bit for having HHx of spades which is a negative factor for opening 3H but if he opens 4H I don't like trying for slam from S either.

There are certainly players who would not preempt 3 nonvul with this heavy a hand or with this good a spade holding, as you might miss some good spade games. Playing a light opening system, this is much too good for a preempt. But that is purely a matter of style. For most players, this is simply a very maximum 3 call.

Responder can hardly be faulted for bidding only 4.

Not that I want to blame anyone, really, well except myself if it's my fault. I just want to learn from these disasters.

100% EW as they didn't force you to slam

If partner's ten of spades were the ten of diamonds instead his hand would look even better to him but slam would be completely hopeless. It's just one of those things.

LOL

jk I love you but AQTx AJxx >>>> AQx AJTxx imo opposite a 3H opener when trying to make slam and it's not really close.

If partner had Kx of one suit and x of the other, which would you want each to be? At best you are grossly exagerating...

How can he have Kx and a stiff and a club control? Or are you just hoping for no club lead. Anyways, if he had Kx of one and stiff of the other, Kx of spades is not that bad, we're on a hook!

Auction was fine, sometimes ou make over tricks.

For some, the North hand would be a 4H bid at those colors, but since

we are talking about a 2nd seat preempt, 3H is fine.

South has 3 tricks, a chance to make a 4th, so 4H will be ok or fairly cold,

but that is this.

Switch the club with the spade suit, and North will still open 3H, but how good

is 5H? And of course North will open 3H also withouth the jack of spade.

With kind regards

Marlowe
