Both Sides Now

Recommended Posts

Here is this week's challenge. (Those of you who communicate with me via e-mail will receive feedback more quickly than those who post here.)

Construct a full deal that satisfies both of the following conditions simultaneously:

1. EAST-WEST are cold for 7 AND 7 - played by either player - and cold against any lead or defense.

AND

2. NORTH-SOUTH are cold for 3NT - played by either player - and cold against any lead or defense.

I will check in every 7-8 hours to see how those who submit solutions online do. (And ignore all non-solution posts). And Yes, it is possible.

EW cold for 7H/7S, while EW can only take their major AKs before giving up the lead, at which point NS can take the rest.

Heck we can extend this slightly, here's a hand where NS make 5NT while EW are cold for grand in both majors.

Same as before (in 7 lucky trumps break 3-3), while in NT for NS, East can do no more than to cash both aces. A minor lead at any point would give NS all the remaining tricks.
