jdonn
These are not good options. :) I will bid 2♦ even anti system simply because I think it will work the best. Over 2NT I will use system to check for hearts, show diamonds, and force to slam. Over 2♠ or 3♣ I will bid 3♦ then bid 6NT if we didn't find a fit in anything over his rebid, else head toward slam in whatever he bids. Free
I'd go for balanced 8+. Agree that these are no good options! You need some kind of waiting bid or a general positive.
PhantomSac
3D then change system.
the hog
Given the constraints, 3D. Discuss the system after the event.
Codo
2 NT and please hold on to your system. I like a laugh at the table...
mcphee
I regret ever having made an agreement to bid anything but 2D unless I was showing controls. Why anyone would want to show points makes me shudder. With normal methods, even though I hold a nice D suit considered valuable, I simply can not bring myself to consider robbing our side of the room to have a decent auction and respond 2D. It is best to wait and see what the 2C bidding has to say.
gnasher
I don't have a problem with playing 2♦ as a negative rather than a relay. If those are your methods, this is a 3♦ bid. I would suggest adding the agreement that 2♣-3M shows four of the major and five diamonds.
pirate22
Use 2d as auto, could be 0----could be something---could be lots,responder(2d bidder) wants to know Pards hand???? it will be a flattish 2n/t type---or a bagger-or a two suited hand, the reply will sort it out.and one can catch up without too much trouble---on the hand given(responder) i use personally "Modified Norman" then there is never a problem regards
P_Marlowe
2NT. 2NT has the adv. that you give p more room, and I assume, thatyou have the options to discover a 4-4 fit in hearts, after 3D it will be a lot harder.5422 is not bal., but it is nevertheless not far away either, so 2NTit is, I would also prefer to have a 6 carder for 3D (at least a single). If you have a bid to show a bal. hand, it may also be a good idea, to have one bid to show a generic unbal. hand. The french system has a 2S response to a (strong) 2D opening, andmost likely it will have follow ups to such a response. With kind regardsMarlowe
