forcing pass?

The bidding goes 1D 1H dbl P 2C 3H P 4H 5C P

Obviously the 5C bidder is sacrificing. Is the pass forcing?

My argument is no because the 5-level looks not possible for our side as both partners have

limited their hand. I think this auction is similar to...

1S P 2S P 3S P 4S 5C P

The spade bidders aren't going to the 5-level, so dbl ought to be an opinion that 5C is going down.

Agree or disagree?

IMO not forcing and should be unclear who is making what. Yes, X is an opinion that it is not making but it is too dangerous to try and transfer the responsibility to partner in nebulous auctions like this.

Disagree!!  Why says this is an obvious sac?  I'm certainly not convinced.

Because 2 was not forcing?

Does that mean I'm not allowed to have a good hand or something?

Also it's not really like 3 promises the world's fair.

What 3 promises doesn't matter. What we know is opener doesn't have a game forcing hand but bid game anyway (and didn't even double instead to show maximum strength in context with normal distribution.) Hmmmm....

Think it was Josh, on another string, who likes to limit the number of "forcing pass" situations he is faced with.

I don't think this pass is forcing. I think it does suggest that his previous bidding was not based on "the nuts", but rather it is more likely from his standpoint 5C is not a sac. Double, would be the opposite clue.
