pirate22
When in the UK,and abroad Mastrichte, there is an auditorioum, with various commentators,in various languages,on a screen,is it possible for BBo to connect into this facility.although one is appreciative to present facility. helene_t
I think you would need to ask the organizers of the event to provide an audiostream elsewhere (skype or whatever). Then the BBO vugraph commentators could provide links to those.
barmar
I think I've seen a couple of tournaments do this, I don't remember the site they used. I also recall a tournament about 6-9 months ago that had a webcam showing the players.
pirate22
yes agree webcam facility would be very interesting as well, even with BBO vu-graph
pirate22
further to my earlier suggestion---- why not a Web/cam facility in the closed room.?????
JanM
Web-cams use up a lot of bandwidth, which is a problem when you have several tables covered and all of them are using one router (at least so the computer experts tell me - I mean that using one router for multiple tables might be slowing things down). The web-cams are also a pain to set up. Having said that, I wonder whether there are enough people who'd like to have web-cam photo's available - remember, because of the bandwidth problem, you're probably not going to get "moving" pictures, just still snaps every 15 or 30 seconds - to make it worth doing. Would it be worth a lot to you?
y66
For me, low bandwidth webcams are not a draw. I enjoyed the video coverage of the 12th World Bridge Olympiad in Istanbul and would love to see more of that. But that is obviously a few orders of magnitude more difficult and costly to produce than what is being discussed here. What I would appreciate a lot is audio commentary. My wife is not a bridge player. But even she really enjoyed the playful, witty, back and forth between commentators at the Buffett Cup event in Dublin. pirate22
I am not suggesting-Web Cams for several tables, but in high level matches,im suggesting Web Cam for the Closed Room--The screen is between n/e and s/w.this adds to the enjoyment, and visual effect even if their is none, but one can witness the scrambling, if hurried notes are exchanged.their are even silent grimaces to be observed.this also leads to "Transparency"I still further my case for web cam'sregards
