Agree with this, but prepared to be wrong if partner has something like xxx, xx, KQJx, QJ109 where 3N is the best game and I'm not going to be in it unless I bid it now. If he doesn't have 4♠, all the bids are sort of random anyway and trying to figure out what's right in this spot is too hard. jdonn Posted February 23, 2010 Report Share Posted February 23, 2010 At first I was leaning to double, but it's so unlikely that partner can pass or bid 3NT so I don't see what advantage it has over 3♠ unless partner can bid diamonds. True if he bids clubs you can run to diamonds but that should be a better hand anyway so it's not clear that's good for you. Also if 3♠ is doubled you can still run to diamonds and pray. MinorKid Posted February 26, 2010 Report Share Posted February 26, 2010 Double! If p responce ♦ or ♠ you are very, very happy (Might have a slam). If 4♣ is reply then bid 4♦!. Assume partner passes weakly with doubleton ♦and the rest break 3-2, u have 7 tricks and he can ruff spades for the 8th and even the 9th.
