On that note, after some discussion, I think there is some merits to having 4 or 4 earlier be a "fit jump." Whether the "fit jump" shows a real suit, or shows a suit that Responder hopes partner has, is debatable. I think a "catering" call makes the most sense. Thus, 4 (instead of 4) would show heart support (and willingness to play at the four-level) with support for partner if he has diamonds as his second suit.

 

In that event, I would have bid 4 the first round, and then 5 the second-round (to indicate MORE that simple support for diamonds but actually a real diamond suit, and great heart support).
