lmilne
All hands you are playing a matchpoints tournament with a good, somewhat conservative partner. Most of your opponents aren't that good. 1. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=s3hk87653dt54ckt8]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] Pass-(1♦)-2♣-(2♠)-X-(4♠)-Pass-Pass-? Do you like X? What now? 2. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=s3hk87653dt54ckt8]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] (Pass)-1♠-(2♦)-3♦-(Pass)-3♠-(Pass)-? 3. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=s3hk87653dt54ckt8]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 2S-(Pass)-? Your partner will virtually always have 6 spades here. 2S is just a 6-10 weak two. 4. And lastly, bid these hands to 6NT by South, after the start 1♠-2♥ (GF). rogerclee
1) x was fine, now I think I have to pass.2) 4S, seems routine. Partner isn't even NV, so his lower range should be a bit better.3) Pass, routine.
lmilne
Edited second hand, partner is favourable second seat, not unfav.
Siegmund
1) With a conservative p I open this 2♥ and trust him not to hang me.The double presumably was snapdragon? I'd play that as one more face card and often a bit less in clubs... I prefer 3♣ here. 2) Depends just how conservative he is, but opposite 90% of pickup partners I pass. 3) Unless partner is SO conversative as to require 6 spades with 2 of the top 3 honours, not moving. 4) I can make up auctions where North cuebids clubs at some point and South eventually chooses to go for 6N rather than 6M, and I can make up lots of stupid auctions with inappropriate Blackwood bids. At the table I admit I am playing 6♥ by North.
Fluffy
1) I made my move pass 2) I made my move pass 3) Partner's ♠AKJxxx produces 9 tricks, pass 4) 1♠-2♥-3♥-3♠-4♦-4NT-3aces- north knows everything, if he wants to gamble 6NT he is right to do so. Depends on the field
