Fix problems with convention cards!

I am totally frustrated with the convention card system. I load a cc and sometimes my p cannot see it until the game starts ( I can see if before), I try to edit it and it disappears and says "cannot load card". Sometime partners can see the cc and sometimes they cannot. I thought this was due to incompatibility between the web and older version but one of the on line people told me it is not. Is is PC versus MAC? Whatever it is, poeple will continue to try just using profiles until the system works right and you can get a cc together with a partner and edit it to make it correct. I have been playing for years on BBO and this has not changed. No one seems to pay in attention to it. People just tell me "I cannot load a cc, use my profile". I keep saving my favorit cc and it keeps disappearing without me doing anything to it. This had got to work better. Thanks

Sorry - my fault. Unfortuantely it would be very difficult for us to address all of the issues in this area for several reasons:

 

- 2 client programs, one of which we are not planning on changing

- the new client program cannot store files on the user's hard disk

- 4 different types of convention cards and we cannot realistically eliminate any of them

- some of these types of convention cards depend at least partly on things like the user's browser settings in order to work properly

It sounds like your partner is using the Windows client (which means that it is likely your partner will continue to experience this problem).

This sounds like a bug. I will investigate, but it would be helpful to know the type(s) of convention card you normally work with and the details of how and where you are making your edits.

I think it is very likely that whoever told you this was wrong.

Almost certainly not.

More and more people are using the web-client all the time so the problems you desribe should slowly go away over time. This is not only because the web-client is more robust in this area, it is also because we are actively trying to improve the web-client.

That could well be a bug, but my initial attempts to replicate it have failed. If you have any details at all, it would be helpful. I realize you think you aren't doing anything, but such things tend not to happen on their own. If you don't mind checking more frequently whether or not your favorite CC exists, you might be able to come up with a theory as to what makes it go away. Once I understand the pattern, this should be an easy problem to fix.
