EDIT: a 4th club appears.

dealer south, vulnerable EW

after a strong 1 opening, west overcalls a "take out" 1 (accepts all suits but hearts), east escapes to 1.

you end up on 6, opponents lead 10, you win the A and cash A, nothing happens so far, take it from there.

I would not like to trust West to hold a singleton heart rather than Jx.

But it doesn't cost to play the Jack of diamonds. If West wins and plays a spade, North wins the Ace and it's already decision time in hearts - I'll play for 2-3.

If East wins the diamond I can win a second diamond, and ruff a small diamond. If East shows out, I'll play West for a singleton heart.

finessing RHO for the J is entirely reasonable as EW are R vs W and given the missing high cards even [hv=d=s&v=e&s=skxxxhxdaxxxct98x]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] is pretty light for this action.

I would finesse. Obviously it would help to know more about their defence to the strong club and how they use it as well as their aggressiveness in general, but in the end I doubt that I would play for the drop regardless. Some people might bid vulnerable with a 4432 shape and few values but surely they would often pass. At different vulnerability it would be harder.

Most obvious finesse since the fall of the Berlin wall.

Having said that it will be no surprise to me when west turns up with Jx, because why should bridge on the forums be any different than that in real life?

you mean something like a hand I played :)

Hmmm I couldn't get to trick 4 but in fact I returned to my hand and finessed the Q :)
