Cascade
I am bidding. 2♥ or 1NT I don't mind too much. Probably 1NT for me.
awm
I haven't gotten many good results from overcalling 1NT with a five-card major. For some reason this seems to be quite different from opening 1NT with a five-card major. Given the vulnerability and form of scoring, I'll try 2♥ rather than pass. hanp
Although the honors and strength are great for 1NT, I think I would bid 2H. I would bid 1NT with both KQxx KJxxx K10 Ax and KQxx KJxx K10xx A, but the two flaws make me bid 1NT. Pooltuna's takeout double is silly imo. Pict
1NT - for me this is the best description. The Hearts aren't so wonderful that I can't risk missing out on them.

aguahombre
With a hand such as this --good spades behind opener -- I have had many successes overcalling a questionable suit at the 2-level rather than passing, bidding 1NT, or doubling. Have no idea what the math is, but until I start getting bad results, am gonna keep doing it.
Siegmund
han summed it up well. The offshape 1NT isn't wrong, but isn't necessary, either.
the hog
2H for me. I can live with 1NT and would certainly not quibble if partner bid it, but I think 2H with this hand and the stiff A of C is preferable.
Apollo81
2♥. You don't have to mastermind every hand.
jdonn
I'll confess I don't understand 1NT at all. I realize not wanting to bid a bad suit but 2♥ is still a totally normal bid.
rogerclee
I gave this hand to a bunch of top players at the Burlingame regional. Opinions were mixed and almost everyone thought either 2H or 1N was fine; nobody passed. At the table 1N works better because it makes it much harder for your opponents to bid game in clubs (they are cold for 6C, and in fact the most common result was 5Cx+1). Cyberyeti
1N for me. If I overcall 2♥, partner always seems to have 3 spades and defence take 2 aces and 2 spade ruffs off 4♥ with 3N making.

Agree with this. Playing 1NT with 54 hearts is not my cup of tea.

Should have projected the possibility the opps belong in 6C before lazily overcalling 2H. It is clearly harder for the opponents to have a proper slam auction after the other side shows a strong notrump. Can I change my vote?
