fred
I was kibitzing a table using the Flash client. The host (S) dealt. Bidding went P - P - P (Undo request by N). E said he had no bidding box. His comment was not understood by the other players. Eventually someone (W or N?) rejected the undo. E said he now had a bidding box and made a bid. The host (S) booted his opps (EW). I guess he misunderstood the situation and thought EW should have allowed his partner's undo request. A fellow kibitzer joined the table (permission required) as E. About a minute later, I noticed his name was still listed as a kibitzer even though he was now siting and playing at the table. I left the table shortly after. There were about 8000 on BBO at the time. The list of kibitzers in the web-client does not update itself automatically. You need to refresh the list manually. You can do that by clicking the "kibitzers" tab again. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com

I probably have not understood correctly, but I believe it is a desirable feature for there to be no further bidding during an undo request. Anyway, it was a fairly interesting game among "experts" before it ended in recriminations and tears!
js138
Some feature requests for the web client: Firstly, it doesn't seem possible to join Tournaments without leaving the table. This is possible in the normal client. Secondly when people quote the suit symbols in messages, they usually don't render (running under Firefox on both Linux and Windows systems). Thirdly, while here now appears to be a 'Club' option in the chat box, but I've not yet seen any evidence that it works for me.
fred
Firstly, it doesn't seem possible to join Tournaments without leaving the table. This is possible in the normal client.I am not certain that I know what you mean, but try clicking the "BBO Now" button at the top of the screen. If this doesn't do what you are looking for, please clarify what it is you are looking for. Secondly when people quote the suit symbols in messages, they usually don't render (running under Firefox on both Linux and Windows systems). For this to work you need to have a Unicode version of the Arial font installed on your system. I was under the impression that all recent Windows machines come with such a font preinstalled. This is not a Firefox issue - for me it works under both Firefox and Internet Explorer on both Windows 7 and Windows XP. Thirdly, while here now appears to be a 'Club' option in the chat box, but I've not yet seen any evidence that it works for me. There were some problems with this in the past, but I thought that they had been fixed. If you are at a table in a club, you should be able to send and receive chat->club. If you are looking at a table list of a club, you can send chat->club but I don't think you can receive it. If this does not match your experience, please let me know the details and I will investigate further. paulg
A couple of issues with the web client noticed yesterday: 1. I cannot see how to register as a sub for a team match. 2. Twice, in different tourneys, I lost all basic table functionality. That is, the buttons to chat to the table, kibs and opps disappeared. The Director button was unavailable (dulled, non-active). The kibitzer tab was unavailable (non-active). I could still chat to people, but this was about it. I just appeared non-responsive to the rest of the table, but I seemed to be in a twilight world of not quite being in the tourney. Logging back in fixed the problem. Sorry I cannot be more specific. I am using Google Chrome.

I think the problems you are experiencing are very likely problems with either Chrome or the Chrome version of Flash (which is supposedly flaky). I suggest you try switching to another browser when you use the web-client. Probably the Chrome version of Flash will become more robust before too long. If you see this happen under IE or Firefox, I will investigate. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
js138
Thanks for your reply. Cleared up a couple of things :-) Firstly, it doesn't seem possible to join Tournaments without leaving the table. This is possible in the normal client.I am not certain that I know what you mean, but try clicking the "BBO Now" button at the top of the screen. If this doesn't do what you are looking for, please clarify what it is you are looking for.No, this I suspect does what I'm looking for. It's just well squirreled away and as most people use the windows client no-one I asked online so far knew of it :-) Secondly when people quote the suit symbols in messages, they usually don't render (running under Firefox on both Linux and Windows systems). For this to work you need to have a Unicode version of the Arial font installed on your system. I was under the impression that all recent Windows machines come with such a font preinstalled. This is not a Firefox issue - for me it works under both Firefox and Internet Explorer on both Windows 7 and Windows XP.That might explain it, though it remains annoying. My windows version is somewhat elderly (2000) and even my Linux is a bit long in the tooth, though assuming any font there strikes me as optimistic :-). Ideally these symbols could be translated to 'hcds' as a user option (or automatically if you can detect that Arial isn't available, though I appreciate that may not be possible). Thirdly, while here now appears to be a 'Club' option in the chat box, but I've not yet seen any evidence that it works for me. There were some problems with this in the past, but I thought that they had been fixed. If you are at a table in a club, you should be able to send and receive chat->club. If you are looking at a table list of a club, you can send chat->club but I don't think you can receive it.No, this now appears to be working as expected. I'd presumably not tested it since the latest client version was released. If this does not match your experience, please let me know the details and I will investigate further.
