lmilne
[hv=d=s&v=n&n=sqj84h843dkq6ca32&s=s32hakt2da975c985]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] Bidding: 1♦-1♠-1NT-2NT. West leads the Q♣, which asks for reverse attitude. Apparentally they "signal with honours", but I don't really know what this means (maybe they unblock the jack in response?). You duck and East plays the 6. West continues with the K♣. Various continuations (hidden): On this round of clubs, East will play the Jack (I guess they don't unblock after all). If you play two top diamonds from dummy, everyone follows with their smallest cards up the line (reverse count). If you lead a heart from dummy, East will play the 9 (high = odd, no Smith signals). kenrexford
I mean, I suppose in theory I could try two rounds of diamonds, ending in dummy. If I believe the opponents, and if it looks like diamonds split 3-3, then I cash the last diamond before crossing in hearts to my established diamond. If I believe that the opponents are 4-2 in diamonds, then I have the entries needed for the 25% double hook in hearts.
gnasher
I expect "signal with honours" means that they play high-low if they have an honour and low-high if they don't. I duck the second club and win the third. If the clubs are 4-3, I play on spades, hoping for a spade, two hearts, three diamonds, one club, and one more trick from either a long diamond or a squeeze (which would probably require some cooperation from the defence). If clubs are 5-2. I could try to make by playing for both heart honours onside and a 3-3 break in one of the red suits, but it risks two down. I'd probably just play spades anyway and settle for one down. That might not be so bad: we have 23 points between us, so others will be in 2NT. billw55
vul at matchpoints I might play safe for down one, leading spades toward dummy twice. -200 stinks. Although hmm .. that's not really safe either ..
lmilne
I think on the hand the 'safe -100 line' gives RHO 5 spade tricks, don't have the hand record on me though :P
