We don't have a fit in a Major, and I'm not fond of 5m in MP tourneys. 3NT won't make imo, so don't even try... P will bid 3NT with 8 HCP, and you're 2 HCP short, no usable long suit, misfits, and probably not much communication. Suits won't split nice since we have a singleton. Pass!

I've voted for 2. I have a nice, shapely hand, which I can describe. It is not invitational, but surely promises some extras: which I do happen to have.

The only time when 2 is wrong is when 1nt scores 120, and in clubs we do not make 130.

However, unless partner has 2533, we have fit in a minor, or a nice Moysian in spades.

The heart suit can be very vulnerable in a vulnerable NT. So if partner did respond with a minimum, I am for a sure 2m(+1) rather than 1nt-1 (opps may easily take 4-6 majors and 1-3 minors).

Even if 1nt makes, I will make an overtrick in 2m, or make 2S.

Partner will not bid on with useless honors in hearts - he will know that they are of no use for me . Opposite Kx xxxx Kx Qxxxx, or even Kx Axxx xx BTxxx, however, I have a great chance to make 11 tricks in C.

I do think my holdings scream for a suit contract (well, except for my spade suit...)

Does your rebid depen of MP/IMP scoring?

Absolutely, my rebid depends upon rather we are playing imps or matchpoints.

At imps vulnerable, there is no way am I going to pass. I will have to make a game try despite the fact that my partner didn't jump to 2NT (invitiational). So at imps, I think I would bid 2. If partner has a little extra he will take another call. At matchpoints, however, I am rather content to try for a plus in 1NT. So I will pass.

Pass. No game anywhere and no reason to fear a heart lead into partners suit unless opening leader is solid. 1N will outscore 2m whenever partner has some points in hearts and at least some of the time when he doesn't. And can't partner be 2-5-3-3 on this sequence? In which case the Moysian minor fit isn't so attractive.

I also pass at IMPs.

All of the above assumes 2/1 or SAYC. In the version of Precision I play, responder will have at least 8 points in this seqeunce and may have 11-12, so my hand is worth a game try--I bid 2N.

I pass at MP's. We have fantastic intermediates, and +120 to +180 looks like a nice MP result here.

At IMPs (vul); I think the hand is too good for 2. You'd make the same bid with a boring 10-11 count with 4054 or the like. This hand looks like a great candidate for a Meckwell 3NT - even on a 23 count, especially if pard holds some nice intermediates in the heart suit.

IMPs NV, I'm a little torn between 2 and 3, since I'm trying to encourage pard, but find the best partial too.

I pass.

I think bidding will get you to a lot of poor games.

Here is a fairly ordinary hand that partner might have that would accept a game try. There is a lot of work for 3NT.

Qxx

I think it is too easy to construct similar examples are relatively hard to construct examples where 3NT is a favourite.
