pirate22
Today China Time approx 0600 hrs 10/02/2010 what ever that is in the US of A.I gained acess to site, over 16000 persons ,well done, but was soon dissconected,re-entered,when i recieved an invite to play a tourney, which i accepted, then spent on/off-dissconnections for the next 1 hour, and gave up----obviously Vu Graph attracted many persons-----------but to the detriment of the site,ME THINKS, I know now its not me -Reason i had two computers running -the second computer was going through an extensive anti virus sequence, but when it finnished,i bounced back and forth between both computers---- to rejoin, and when it nearly arrived --- one or other was disconnected------more frustration........my deliberations, Inform me,when the attendance to the site is over 12000 for whatever reason,we have dissconect problems,CAN THE POWERS TO BE---perhaps isolate VU-Graph-from the Non Vugraph attendees-thus reducing the overall numbers,to allow "game ON! lets play, I have in the past experienced dissconnection, although im on Broadband, and am now convinced---Attendee's over 12000 cause problems within the site. This is Constructive Observation's----------perhaps some whizz kid or management might reply---------------------- regards
pirate22
 To avert any "Critiscm" yes i have 2 computers both registered to BBO--one for Home--and one for Travel-as an accredited Bridge player---No way do i have both up and running, when playing---To Boot my wife has a computer-also registered to BBO, But we have a "Golden Rule" in the UK:):) never play with your wife,(bridge wise) on the odd occasion, she is in one room, im in the other, and SILENCE is golden-----------Such Peace:):) Regards
pirate22
Having posted this Topic---Time Now in China 0745 same date--im trolling through General bridge Discussion. and it is so slow im now convinced-its the site --or some boffin (BBO WISE) has screwed up

barmar
I have logged into BBO many times when there are many others logged in, and do not get disconnected. Connections between China and the US can be very finicky. You viewed the problems you also have here in the forum as a sign that the problem is with BBO, but the forums are run on different computers than the bridge play. To me, the fact that you had problems with two different systems here suggests that the problem is at your end. BTW, this is the General Bridge Forum, for discussion about bridge, not BBO. Don't you see the "BBO Support" and "Suggestions for the Software" forums down below?

pirate22
I am assuming there is nothing wrong with my computers, but not to put a too bigger crisis on things-there are clues that i have noticed.Firstly--when logging in initially.one can tell what sort of health is in store-the numbers(atendee;s) rattle up,marked friends appear and convention cards complete-------Secondly--in the chat lines--appeals for subs appear-and requests for types of plyers start appearing.also if one is ply main/relaxed,ones opponents dissapear, the red dot comes up.thirdly---sometimes not always guarenteed.if oneself is dissconected, odd occasions when rejoining, one is asked do you want to return to original table? YES,but this is not always the case.Further clues.if when logging in there is an initial pause and the no stays locked say at 400 when waiting it jumps another 60 then another 100 then more pauses,to me thats a clue for a bad session ahead.I also have noted this symptom happening while in the UK-Australia/Israel/america/countries in europe.going back to the days of "E-Bridge"they suffered years of dissconections, before their demise.and no one ever owned up to what was really hapening.Assuming firewalls are not the cause-and i rule out the Chinese goverment have no axe to grind with Bridge-many goverment ministers are bridge fans and players, and i expect glitches from time to time(Internet)Im gratefull for what i get,im slightly frustrated when the total attendee's reach 15000,i know one is for a rough time--my input is of a constructive nature,to possibly achieve a higher level of quality. today chinese time is 011 hrswed 10th/2/2010.and today is so far okregards
barmar
Are you using the web client or the Windows app? The Windows app has a much harder time dealing with lots of users online, especially with a poor connection to the server, because it has to download all the player and table information. Gerardo
Barmar usefull input-what is diff between web client/windows--i am using windows, with BBO site download.my broadband very strong and strong signal That may be not enough. If there is a network issue between your location and BBO servers, you would be affected no matter how big your local pipe is. These kind of issues are rare, but not unheard of. barmar
The web client is what you get if you go to www.bridgebase.com and click on Play Bridge Now, you connect to BBO in your web browser window. The Windows client is what you get if you download the Bridge Base Online application and run that. All current development is only on the web client. Changes are only being made to the windows client when absolutely necessary to solve problems, it's not getting any new features.
