Accept and pass seems pretty lol bad, if you're going to pass you should make them make it sufficient so that they have less room.

 

If you accept it should be in order to bid 1S. I would certainly do that with say KQTxx xx xxx xxx, but with this hand I'm just going to not accept planning to pass, with such defensive values/diamond holdings and a bad spade suit, I'm not that eager to get the spades in.

Yeh, well accepting and then passing does seem pretty "LOL bad". But it looked like a hand where 1D would come back to partner, who could get his 6th heart off his chest at a lower level or bid 1S himself. The downside would be allowing advancer to bid 2C or 1NT.

 

My experiment might not work out well, hence "like a dumbass" was used to describe the action.

Accept and 1♠ seems obvious.

 

Not accept and then bidding ♠ must be stronger, since it shows you aren't worried of 2♦.

I like not accept. If they pass and I bid 1♠ I bet partner can work out that I'm weak. If they bid 2♦ I'm happy to pass and see what partner does, since why shouldn't 2♦ be very bad for them vul at mps?

I don't think accept and 1♠ denies a strong hand. It could just mean that I am happy with the extra bidding space they gave me.

 

Accept then 1♥ or 2♦ would be cute but unfortunately I don't have a hand to bid. So not accept, and then pass.

need some table feeling, it is often obvious at this point if RHO has bid 1♦ because he wanted to pull 2♦ but misspicked, if he bid 1♦ because he though ♣ was opened, or i he bid 1♦ because he though he was dealer.

 

If RHO though he should open the bidding it is clear to put him in tropuble and not acept and see how they solve a 4 card 2 level overcall. But if he seems to have a real suit I'd accept and bid my spades right now.
