hanp
Spades are almost certainly 3-2, so we have 7 tricks. We can score an eight by playing up to the club king or setting up the fifth diamond, or by ruffing two diamonds. For all purposes it seems best to duck the first trick. If they switch to spades we haven't lost anything, if not then we may be able to ruff two diamonds.
jjbrr
Duck the lead. I'll play diamonds every chance I get, I think.
hanp
I actually think it is not possible to set up the fifth diamond, so I'm not sure there is any point to ducking the heart. Perhaps better is to win the heart, play a diamond to the ace and a club to the king. That way at least you are almost guaranteed to make if the club ace is onside. Hanoi5
I'm winning and playing a diamond to my ace and a club towards the King. I'll see what develops...

What about ducking the ♥, taking the 2nd ♥ with the Ace and play a ♥ and drop the ♣. Now I can ruff the ♣ if they play ♦ I have the minors set up for a cross ruff. If they try to draw my trumps, I should get some ♠ tricks. Well obviously only 2nd best or worse. Edited February 1, 2010 by hotShot
