Comment on the bidding and the opening lead. What would you lead as north against 3NTx? (Result was 4♦x-1 at the table.)
PhantomSac
Auction looks good, I would lead a spade against 3N X (seems automatic). East might have bid 3N instead of 3H, but I think 3H is fine/good.
Codo
I do not like 3 diamond. Partner has not too many hearts, he often has 5 spades but no bid. The hand he has is close to the best he can have. Of course he can hold his hand with the King of diamonds extra, but this is quite a small target to hit. I like the rest of the bidding but not the lead. A spade is really clear. BTW, what had you lead if the contract had been 3 NT X?
gnasher
I do not like 3 diamond. Would you really pass out 2♥? That's also quite a small target.
pooltuna
I do not like 3 diamond. Would you really pass out 2♥? That's also quite a small target. no but I wouldn't punish partner with 3♥ either
Codo
I do not like 3 diamond. Would you really pass out 2♥? That's also quite a small target. I do not know if this is really such a small target. If I could compete, so that 3 ♦ is passed with most hands partner has, I would like to. But unluckily he won't pass with an average 10 HCP hand. And I do not see game opposite such a hand. So if I bid, I win if he has something like 13+ and no bid (possible) and lose opposite most worse hands. I like the odds.
