[hv=d=e&v=b&s=sq8hakqjxda10xcak8]133|100|Scoring: IMP

RHO opens 4[/hv]

had a similar problem this morning when I held[hv=d=e&v=b&s=sq8hakqjxda10xcak8]133|100|Scoring: IMP

RHO opens 4[/hv]RHO dealt and opened 2 I elected for the X and 3NT rebid

Consequently I would X and rebid 4NT if partners chooses not to pass

I would much rather bid 4NT (natural) than 4H, the only question is whether I feel I am too good for that.

Why? Surely 4H makes far more often than 4N. Do you expect to get to slam significantly more often after a 4N overcall that you feel it's worth the times you go down in 4N cold for 4H?

Also how can you be too good for 4N? Are you seriously going to drive to 5H or 4N with this (8 winner) hand?

I'm just not seeing it.

4. I was thinking of doubling and then 6NT over 4 but that's just like bidding 6NT right away. Besides, openener is missing the 2 top honours in his suit, he should have some values in spades, I guess.
