Trumpace
This is similar to one of Kelsey's hand and one posted by bid_em_up a few years ago. You are in 5D and LHO leads the S5. You see: [hv=d=s&v=n&n=saq3hq752d653cq72&s=s642hakdakqj98ck3]133|200|Scoring: RubberLead S5.[/hv] Plan the play.
jjbrr
Hidden: I believe I'm usually safe by ducking this trick, winning the return, pulling trumps, cashing 2 ♥ winners and leading a ♣ to the queen. If lefty has the ace and ducks, I have chances for 12 tricks. If righty wins ace, I'll use the ♠ entry to pitch my last ♠ on the ♥Q
vuroth
Duck trick 1 altogether. RHO has to win. Unless spades are 6-1 (~7%), he can't return a spade. Later I can draw trump, unblock ♥s, go to the A♠, and discard my last ♠ in hand on the Q♥.
jjbrr
Don't forget to fork lefty, just in case.
vuroth
Yeah, I just read your line. Nice addition. I've missed that concept twice today now. :)
Trumpace
There is one more point to this hand (not for overtricks, but to make).
jdonn
There is one more point to this hand (not for overtricks, but to make). The other point to the hand is when you duck the spade and RHO returns a club you have to pop up with the king from your hand. If you play low then LHO can win the ace and lead another spade through, killing your only entry while both clubs and hearts are blocked. It's an interesting theme, I'm not sure I've even come across it before.
pooltuna
There is one more point to this hand (not for overtricks, but to make).I see nothing else past .....The key to the hand is to maintain or create a dummy entry to cash the Q♥. Duck the first lead and when they shift to a ♣ play the K this either wins the lead (assuming no ruff) while you have a ♠ entry or creates an entry in the ♣Q when LHO wins and leads a second ♠ (which you win with the A) Edit: jdonn
