Jlall
A trump could work very poorly if declarer is then able to pitch his spade(s) on the heart(s). It is also possible that tapping is necessary. It's also possible that we pick off some trump holding with a trump lead. A trump could work well when dummy is say 1-3 in the minors, and we are able to later get partner in to play another trump. Overall I like the SQ but it seems pretty close. hanp
I wouldn't lead a trump here. I understand that we would like to stop declarer from ruffing diamonds, but it seems likely that partner can overruff so they'll have to pull a few trumps anyway. On the other hand, we might have as many as 2 spade tricks that can both go away on hearts if we don't lead spades.
karlson
I lead a trump. I don't think declarer will bid 4n very often with 2 spades (of course it's possible), and if dummy really is short in diamonds partner won't be able to overruff the first one, and may not be able to overruff the second one. Obviously it's all bit of a guess.
gnasher
Does a "takeout" 4NT imply 3-card heart support? If so, then declarer won't be able to throw a spade on a heart unless he has AKJ10 between the two hands, and he can afford to draw all of partner's trumps. If he does that, maybe we'll get three diamond tricks. I lead a trump (though I'm not sure that I'd have done so at the table). If "takeout" really means "two places to play", I lead a spade.
