Sanity check...

I can't imagine any action other than 2. I don't want to suggest to partner that 2x would be an acceptable contract if he has a good defensive hand, and I certainly don't want to pass out 2. I like direct actions over preempts to be sound, so it is even possible (but not very likely) that we could have a game in spades.

Rate the three actions? How is this:

2 - obvious. 90%. I don't give out 100% because it is possible that another action might work better on a given layout.

Double - dangerous. 10%. Could be the winning call, but is more likely to lead to -670 or worse.

Pass - 100% on the wimp scale.

At IMPs, this is an easy pass.

If it is our hand, and we have a game, there are very few hands where partner could pass initially.

If it is our hand and 2 is going down, it may go down 2. Our void is not an asset on defense. I will be happy with +200 after a pass, even if a double would give us +500.

If it is not our hand, this will be a misfit. And because we don't have the values for any action, we will get too high. Partner will bid 3NT or something and we will go for a number when RHO doubles.

Finally, if we double and partner leaves it in, counting on the values that we have promised, we can write down -670 or -870, instead of -110 or -140.

At IMPs, it simply isn't worth risking giving the opponents a game or an opportunity to wack us, just to compete for a partscore or to try and turn a +100 into a +200.

I will sit back and see whether this will be +100 or -110.

2. Hate X as we can't lead trumps, and we have hardly any defensive tricks so partner will need alot to set 2X. If a gun was held to my head to choose between pass and X, I'd pass.

So your lho has 6Hearts. you partner has 4 good or even five ones. Why do you ever want to have a trump to lead one?

I will never understand this argument.

Of course if they had bid 1 1 2 all pass, I would like to hav trump to lead. BUT HERE: Why?

Because if we can lead a trump through declarer so that partner can draw two or three trumps out of declarers hand, either immediately or soon after, those are trumps that declarer cannot use to ruff our outside winners later.
