What do you open and how do you follow up?

I think this is a 3 bid in fourth seat. That will be high enough to keep the opponents out, but invites partner to bid game with a suitable hand, eg one with two aces.

We might miss some games where he has a perfect spade holding like QJx, but we'll gain on the more frequent occasions when his slow values are in the minors instead.

I agree with 3 in 4th seat. Consider that there could be two heart losers as well and I don't want to go too crazy. Also this is plenty of preemption considering I don't mind if they bid spades, the opponents are both almost sure to stay out at this high of a level.

I would just bid 1H. I have spades so I'm not concerned with preempting them at all. I am more worried about playing 3H-1 when I could have played 2H than I am about the opps bidding 4 of a minor.

4H seems lol, we need a ton for game and we're playing MP, why just decide to go minus a huge portion of the time in 4th seat when we usually get to game by opening 1H anyways?

Justin raises what I THINK is the critical point:

In order to beat "Pass Out" we need to guaruntee ourselves a positive score. We aren't trying to jam the opponent's auction or make a reasonable pre-sac against their 4m partial.

We need to go positive to beat "Pass"

I think that's too academic when we can say with almost 100% certainty, that "all pass" will be the result at 0 of the other tables. So that can't really be the score to beat.
