How to bid "nasty" distribution

In Standard American (better minor), you partner opened the bidding with 1C. RHO bid 2D, what was explained as at least 5-5 in majors. What do you bid?

(2H, 2S is seminatural, GF, showing stopper in the suit, and denying stopper in the other major, in your agreements).

 

Is there any change in your decision, if 3C bid is forcing to game in your system?

Hi,

 

If you play 2H / 2S as stopper showing,

I doubt I would call this agreement seminatural, since

you dont want to play 2H / 2S,

and if you want to play 3C as GF, than you need a bid for a

comp. raise => 2NT lebensohl would come to mind, since X

is usually used to suggest going for blood.

 

Given your option: you could try 3D, which should be natural

and hopefully forcing, if you have any doubts bid 4D (most would

treat this one as fit bid).

I bid 3♦ if I am sure it is 100% forcing, I wanna hear a raise from partner, or a total denial with 3NT if possible

I'd bid whatever number of ♦ that will get partner to bid again.

I like 6♣. Whenever I have a 7-5 I bid something crazy because I think bridge is too dull sometimes and you need some adrenalin and it doesn't ruin my results because it's so rare that I get a 7-5 and of course, very often the crazy bid will turn out to be the winner.

 

edit: oh I have a 6-6. Well I guess I should start using the above law to 6-6 too.

Their bid gives me two cuebids.

I play something similar to unusual over unusual when they overcall in two suits:

- 2♥ low cue, is the other suit (♦), gameforcing.

- 2♠ high cue is fit, limit+.

- 2NT/3♣/3♦ natural non forcing

So I choose 2♠ and try for slam.

 

If 4♥ would be Exclusion Blackwood I would prefer that.

Maybe I can find 2 aces, trump queen and ♦K in partners hand an bid a grand!

Without agreements about our defense to this 2♦ bid and how to cuebid with interference I would certainly punt 6♣.

 

Oh well I would probably punt 6♣ anyway. If LHO bids 6♥ and p passes, I bid 7♣. If LHO bids 6♠ and p passes, I double.

OK, this was not the only problem, I had in this auction. Despite your opinions, I bid 3 clubs, following the agreement I made with my partner (may be strange for you), that this bid is natural game forcing in the situations like this one. (Okay, I did not have exactly game forcing strength, but the hand has some potential, hasn't it?)

 

After some time, LHO bid 3 spades and my partner 3NT, passed to me. What now?

 

The auction up to now:

(1)... 5+-5+ in major suits

(2)... natural game forcing

(3)... long thinking

 

By the way, no line is vulnerable.
