your suit or partner's?

Recommended Posts

3C. I don't know about the in-between cases of suit quality, but xx in hearts and KQJxxx of clubs is a very extreme difference. When it's highly possible your hand will just take 0 tricks in hearts, and you have 6 good clubs, I would prefer to play 3C.

I wouldn't seriously consider 2N, it needs too much to work in my opinion. Starting with an invitational 3C instead of bidding 1N would have been fine (if you play that), but our hand has actually gotten worse from partner's 2D rebid anyway.

At MPs you might be willing to consider 2H, given your potential side entry.

If you had a weaker hand (no potential entry outside clubs) the case for 3C would be more compelling. It is probably the right bid anyway at imps.

If you had any honour in hearts, or if you had the CAQ instead of KQJ, I would be willing to play 2H even at imp.

[hv=d=n&s=skxxhxxdxxckqjxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP

1-p-1NT-p

2-p-?[/hv]

playing 2/1, (1nt was forcing)

2 or 3?

Maybe the real question is, when you have 2 card support, with what hands do you bid 3?

for me easy 2h

3c for me would be invitational.

I have no way to show a weak hand with long clubs on this type of auction.

I don't normally do this in the B/I forum, but if that is your agreement, I suggest you play instead

1H-1N

2D-?

2S forces 2N

...3C = 6+C, inv

...3D =D raise, strong invite

...3H = some kind of heart raise, either 3 card limit raise or Hx and a sharp hand, etc

3C = weak with clubs

3D = weaker invite in D

3H = H raise, whatever you decided doesnt go through 2S
