Please provide the most probable result after East opens 1♠ and you either a) passb) doublec) bid 2♥. Please do a cross imp result like: a-b:a-c:b-c: (a-c means the imps a wins over c) Thanks :) In case you haven't done so already, try to do the other 29 hands also :) If you made it this far, congratulations and thank you!! One last thing maybe could you add up all your imps? :) a-b total:a-c total:b-c total: hopefully in a few weeks we will objectively know what the best call with A7, AT432, QT64, Q5 is over 1S, unfavorable, imps. hanp
After a pass EW will play in 3C making (if west is pessimistic) or 3NT (if west is sane) down on a heart lead. After a double it would also be one of these outcomes, but it is hard to say how double will affect east's choices. Too hard to say for me. awm
a: 1♠-P-3♣(inv)-all pass. Making three, -110.b: 1♠-X-XX-1N-2♦-P-3♣-all pass. Making three, -110. c: 1♠-2♥-3♣-P-3♦-P-3♥-P-3NT. Heart lead to queen, spade king won by south, ace and a heart. Now declarer hooks the spade jack to take four spades, two hearts, one diamond, and two clubs for nine tricks? Of course it is possible that declarer gets the spades wrong, or that a different opening lead is found. Let's say 50% for -400 and 50% for +50. a-b = 0 IMPsa-c = 1.5 IMPs (50% for 290, 50% for -160) b-c = 1.5 IMPs (as above)
gnasher
b: 1♠-X-XX-1N-2♦-P-3♣-all pass. Making three, -110. Isn't 3♣ forcing? c: 1♠-2♥-3♣-P-3♦-P-3♥-P-3NT. Heart lead to queen, spade king won by south, ace and a heart. Now declarer hooks the spade jack to take four spades, two hearts, one diamond, and two clubs for nine tricks?Declarer doesn't have four spade tricks. awm
Let's make this down one in 3NT, since Gnasher is right about the spade suit. This means: a-b = 0 IMPsa-c = 4 IMPsb-c = 4 IMPs Totals a-b = 46Totals a-c = 66Totals b-c = 49 Basically a (PASS) was a huge winner for me, and c (2♥) was terrible. This matches what Mikeh got. Fluffy
my dearest north is raising to 3♥ making west declarer in 3NT for 2 down. A: 3♣ -110B: X-2♣-p-2♦-p-2NT all pass for +100C: 2♥-2NT (clubs)-3♥-p-p-3NT all pass for +200 A-B = -5 IMPsA -C = -7 IMPsB-C = -3 IMPs I am not sure I added them correctly but my numbers say: A-B -24A-C 97 B-C 125 2♥ a big big loser, and double is clearly better than pass, however I suspect I was biased towards punushing 2♥ at times, and that I made good decisions over the take out double based on knowing the full hand also. Pass risked having to catch up in the bidding later, double risked some awful club contracts, but somehow they were dodged most of the time, but gained a lot by getting in quickly. 2♥ was a loser because it acomplished nothing, when we had 5-3 heart fit, we where shouted down by their spade fit anyway. While when we had a bigger one, nobody was stopping us finding it after the double. 3♥ won several small swings by preempting their bidding though, at MPs it was not nearly as bad, didn't make the count, but maybe even better than pass. Codo
A 1♠ 2♣2♦ 3♣ ap +1 -110B 1♠ X XX 1 NT 2♦ p 3♣ 3 NT - 400 or +50 I had lead a heart to the queen, East plays on clubs and now? Can we really avoid that he ever reach the high spade and untackling enough tricks in time? I would rate this as 70/30 for the defence, so -85. C 1♠ 2♥ 3 NT -85 AB -25 -1AC -1BC
shyams
For a, my bidding would be 1S 2C; 2D 3C all pass Otherwise, agree with awm a-b = 0 IMPsa-c = 4 IMPsb-c = 4 IMPs
