Hello, this is the eighteenth thread in the big poll. Please provide the most probable result after East opens 1 and you either

a) pass

b) double

c) bid 2.

Please do a cross imp result like:

a-b:

a-c:

b-c:

(a-c means the imps a wins over c)

Thanks :) Please try to do all 30 hands also :)

a: 1-P-1N-P-2-P-2-A/P. Making three, -140.

b: 1-X-P-3-P-4. Down one, -100.

c: 1-2-P-2-P-3-A/P. Making, +140.

a-b = -1 IMP (-40)

a-c = -7 IMPs (-280)

b-c = -6 IMPs (-240)

On the second auction, north has a decision between 2NT and 3. But the result is roughly the same in both contracts, assuming a pass of 2NT and a normal club lead (but a raise of 3 to game based on the extra trump).

a.1-p-p-1NT

2-

here it depends on the methods. if it's going to be N who declares it's -200 if S then probably -100. I will say 50-50.

b.

1-x-p-3

p-4

this is a clear -200

c.

1-2-...

-100 or -200

ab: +1.5

ac: 0

bc: -1.5

a: Agree with awm. 2S by E; -140 to N/S

b: N/S reach 4H (from North side). Down 2 after a CA opening lead; -200 to N/S

c: 1S (2H) pass (2S); pass (3H) all pass; makes on a spade lead +140 to N/S

a-b = 2 IMPs (+60) to N/S

a-c = (7) IMPs (-280) to N/S

b-c = (8) IMPs (-340) to N/S

a. 1 p 1NT p

2 p 2 ppp

-140

b. 1 X p 3

4 p p p

South can always end up ruffing in when east tries to ruff a spade.

+50

c. 1 2 p 2

3 p p 3

ppp

+140

On 2 east might not bid 4 but at this vul I feel he would. North might bid 3 or 1NT (not 2NT!) but 3 seems more normal. After the 4 bid I don't see why south would raise, he has an extra heart but a minimum without short spades that has seen his Qx be bid by an opponent.

a-b: -5

a-c: -7

b-c: -3
