My P passed in first seat, ops opened 1 in second; I doubled it with following hand

[hv=v=n&s=sk85hakj3d7653ckj]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]

my P bid 3 (standard bidding without any special agreements)

What to do? I passed it...concerned about (maybe) not having A

Was I wrong? Forces this 3c bid generally to...?

Thanks for comments

you boxed yourself in with your initial call. IMO pass or 1NT would be a better choice (for me, in that order).

Hi,

3NT, but this is basically a coin flip.

Pass or 3NT could both be the right bids, if 3NT gets doubled I will

retreat back to clubs.

With kind regards

Marlowe

PS: I would have overcalled 1NT, but our 1NT overcalls are "light",

and can understand not doing so.

If I dont overcall 1NT, I would double.

Darling, you gotta let partner know. (Overcall 1NT)

Should I stop or should I go?!?!?

If partner sees that he has nine, 3NT will be bid til the end of time.

So you got to let partner know, should HE stay or should HE go.

If I go there will be trouble

And if I stop it won't be doubled

So you still gotta let me know

Should I stop or should I go? B)

I hate this CLASH of styles

If you must misunderstand one of the greatest all time bridge times pls rewind your mind...relax.....expand.....

I note some hear the beat and voice of the generation.

If you have studied this at all it is goofy...

They could hear the beat of the music...but....

I prefer your double to a 1NT overcall, partner has passed and your hand is sub-minimum

Presumably, had you been dealer, the bidding would be 1NT-3NT. Try to ignore the 1 opening on your right, it may be weak and other tables may have passed.

Your partner's 3 bid was invitational, so with 15hcp you can accept.

3NT figures to be the "par" contract, so bid it

Passing 3 could be more dangerous. Partner has not guaranteed a 5+ card suit, and may have 3334 with 11hcp, but no spade stopper (JTx)
