I sat South and our bidding went (playing SAYC) :

 

1S - (pass) - 1N - 2H

2S - all pass

 

1N = 6-10, NF

 

4 was cold. Should I bid more with my hand? Given pard responds 1N on a singleton spade too, I felt 3S was not an option, but maybe I am wrong. I thought that maybe pard was worth another bid, being around the top end of his 1N bid.

Your bidding was fine.

 

4♠ doesn't always make btw. You could have four losers in the side suits and only get rid of one of them (on the hearts). Also, you could lose two spade tricks.

Evaluating KQx in LHO's suit as worth two tricks is really tough. Overcalls with junk suits sometimes strike gold.

IMO you made the correct choice but I would not be too hard on your partner who had to contend with your possible holding of [hv=s=sxhkqxdjxxxcxxxxx]133|100|[/hv]

 

Mostly a hand that hits the system cracks and as a consequence falls thru

this hand does indeed fall inbetween the cracks...

 

I know one guy who opens 1nt with these things.

 

 

Talk about taking offshape 1nt openings to an extreme. :)
