5C. 4S might make, 5C might make, they might both make.

If is possible that both contracts go down but the negative IMP swings will be smaller. It is also possible that we find a good club slam or that they mistakenly bid 5S.

The discrepancy between hearts and clubs is too large to bid 4NT.

I was tempted to post "5C WTP" because I think the answer is quite obvious.

fwiw, if you bid 5, I think it will go "all pass" all too often even when the club slam is there. Partner cannot know about the spade control, and we have no way to conveniently show it.

If you bid 4N showing two places to play, and partner bids 5, and you convert to 5, he will have a better picture of your hand. He may not know about the disparity in lengths, but at least he will know about both suits, which may possibly help him to revalue his hand.

However, on the off-chance partner actually bids 5 over 4N is when I think 4N really pays off. I think it is at least worth entertaining the idea of raising to six on the basis of the big fit, 1st round control in the opponents suit (which partner will not expect), and 2nd round control in diamonds. I probably would, but I certainly will not claim that it is the correct action.

Partner will often have a spade control.

Also, you don't get any points for entertaining ideas.

About as often as he won't, and those are the cases it is likely to matter the most.

Of course, if you bid reflexively, as in 5 wtp, you don't have the opportunity to "entertain other ideas", which basically means "to give further consideration to other bids that you might choose and the pro's and cons of each." So if you really think that you don't get points for examining your options, well....you just go ahead and keep playing that way.

I really don't think that comment was called for.
