What do you bid?

You start with a pass, LHO Opens 1 Spade, Pard bid Michaels, RHO bids 4D which shows a first or second round control[/hv]

What is your call? Opps are capable players, but nothing extraordinary.

5. Put the guess on the opponents.

5H.

Dbl fit + favourable vuln allows this.

4H is useless, they'll bid 4S and then double oyu or compete or explore slam with more info.

Jumping to 5 forces them to decide in the dark between doubling, compete or bidding a slam.

We have double fit, they probably have slam.  I don't want to push them, so pass...

I disagree with this philosophy in most cases. If they have a slam, they might find it without our help. Who knows, if I jump they might even be pushed to a slam when they can only make 5. My experience has shown it's better to push it higher when we have a fit, not to hide because the knowledge of our fit might lead them to slam.

5, lead directing. Pd, will be leading against 5 or some slam and I think we need a club lead. If 5 is doubled I can remove to 5 without making pd lead a heart for a probable disaster.

Your style is importent, its not a good idea that both you and your partner will push due to the favorite vul, usually its the first bidder job to take the vul into accout, some players will bid this cue bid with less the 5-5, some (and i got one in mind ;) ) might bid this with 4-4 , so you shouldnt punish him by pushing further.

Luis' 5 seems the best bid here. Normally, lead-directing bids promisse a better suit, but in this case pard rates to have clubs. 5 allows him to lead a club from Qxxxx or Axxxx, something he's unlikely to do if we support hearts.

The only problem with 5 is it allows LHO to bid 5, clarifying E/W of the double-fit. But in any case we'd have pointed out what seems to be the best lead.

Partner´s suit doesn´t have to be , they showed a control, not a suit, this means RHO doesn´t have A nor singleton, that means lead is good ONLY if partner has got A or Q, wich probably is the same as having suit.

5 is probably PoC bid, but wha tis the difference between 4NT? if 5 is natural as I´ve seen sugested on a post before, then the best lead directign lead should be 4NT, so partner leads a when has that suit.
