But acting on those constructions means that you are taking a completely unilateral decision in circumstances in which that decision will be very wrong a lot of the time. That's a good point. Why didn't I overcall 4♥? If they're going to bid 4♠, and partner has the sort of hand where I want to go to the five level, he's more likely to do so after 4♥ than after 2♥.
