scrote
(1♠) X (2♠) ? What do 2nt and X mean specifically?
hanp
Double is responsive (wants to compete without knowing in which strain, think xx Kxx Axxx J10xx). I don't think there is a "standard" for 2NT. I play transfer lebensohl here.

vuroth
A previous thread about 2NT:http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=23632&hl= Nice. I wanted to hope that it was 2 places to play, but was afraid I was nuts.
Fluffy
yeah many interpretations, even playing natural is not totally wrong, I like lebenshol to show weak competitive hand because I can use double with 2 places to play.
jdonn
My preference is double value showing and 2NT minors. Majority is probably double minors and 2NT leb. When I say minors I really mean two places to play btw. Obviously my grasp of the English language is fantastic.
ONEferBRID
(1♠) X (2♠) ? What do 2nt and X mean specifically? ( 1♠ ) - X - ( 2♠ ) - X = Responsive for the minors ( if you have ♥, you bid them rather than fool around ) .

I agree with "bidding hearts with hearts"...my partner is much more likely to have 4 hearts than some partners, though :( We use the resp X with values and no direction. 2NT is more minor-suit oriented than that (5-5, 5-4, etc.). With everyone at the table bidding, we find less occasion to need leb or G/B in this situation. As a follow-up to the resp X, original doubler can bid 2NT to scramble for the 4-4 minor contract
