ban

It is quite possible that a faulty internet connection has caused BBO sentry robots to automatically give you a temporary ban

Did you not receive any explanation? If so, then BBO has let you down... I appologise on their behalf

When this happened to me, I was banned for a week, but was told why.

I did not seem to have any right to an appeal, so shrugged it off as bad luck

Hope you get it all sorted out soon, Good luck

I would suggest re-registering as Pasamo2... but probably get flamed for this (unless your ban was totally non-fault on your part)

When we block someone we pop up a window that says

"BLAH has been blocked. Please contact abuse@bridgebase.com"

where BLAH is some username.

The suggested response is an email -> abuse@bridgebase.com, along with BLAH and your own username.

Really Tony, I find it very odd that you are in favor of banning kibs because of supposed abuse and then you tell someone in the forums to go get another name so as to get around a BBO ban. Aren't you shooting yourself in the foot. as well as being very unsupportive of BBO's efforts to handle problems? Not that my opinion matters a rat's ass, but I cannot take your comments about problems very seriously when you do this sort of thing.

I do respect your opinion, and will be happy to explain my reason for giving this controversial advice.

It seems obvious that OP has absolutely no idea as to why he/she was banned. It is also obvious that many honest players have their own reasons for creating alternate identities. I suggested that OP used a new identity that was as close as possible to the original, to be seen to be as honest as possible (under the circumstances)

All identities are linked to one person/laptop, any bbo yellow can check this easily. Abusive players cannot hide for long behind multiple IDs, unless playing from intenet cafes etc

We will never know why OP was banned, but it is clear that this player is honest, and is likely to have connection problems, or similar. There is a huge difference between this and serious abuse. If OP continues to encounter connection problems, then I suggest trying a new Internet Service Provider

Tony

Edit:

After re-registering as Pasamo2, immediately contact any Yellow to ask for help

There are two ways to be banned

1. Deliberately

This might be done by a yellow ( for a short period of time ) or one of the staff ( could be for longer ).

2. Inadvertently

We try to ban BLAH, and to do so we (say) block an IP address that is reused later by an innocent.

Emailing us is the simplest response. Meanwhile, making a new id or whatever wont hurt anyone, I guess.

I have no idea if this person is an innocent who got caught inadvertently or not, but it seems more supportive of BBO to give the person the appropriate address to discuss the situation with BBO rather than jumping to conclusions that BBO is wrong when you have heard only one side of the story.

In my (very limited) experience, people who have been banned for cause express shock and outrage rather than regret and penitence; they feel that they should be able to behave however they wish and are being treated most unfairly when called on it. Have you never known a child who has been chastised and who ran to the other parent or sometimes a teacher- and complained that mommy or whoever was being mean to them? No matter that they were chastised for beating the baby over the head with a toy truck or running out into the street without looking for traffic. Also, it might well be not only the "good guys" who read these forum threads.

I think BBO staff have a very difficult task and the more support we can give them with it the better the site will be for all of us.

1. I prefer to give this guy the benefit of the doubt when he says "but ı dont know why? what can ı do? help please "

2. I did my research, Did you?

I examined Pasamo's hand record and can find no evidence of any problem

His/her last excursion on bbo was as a sub in tourney #7398 where the final 3 hands were played out, completing the tournament and finishing 75th in section 2 with 36.77%

There is no evidence of table-hopping etc, so unless there was a problem in this tournament, which we will never discover, then I have assumed innocent till proved guilty. I do not think that I am being naive.

I doubt that the bad guys actually read these forums, but if they do they should be forced to wear black hats so we can identify them

Tony

Added:

The situation seems to have been resolved. Pasamo is wearing a white hat and his bbo membership has been restored. He is back with us, bidding 7NT with gusto :)
