BBO on Apple Tablet?

Recommended Posts

What are the chances of being able to log into bbo and play on Apple's new tablet (iSlate) which "might" be introduced in March? The screen will certainly be large enough and there will be a solid internet connection. I think this will be a big selling product.

So now that the iPad has been officially announced, it looks like it will take some work to get BBO on it. It's not a slimmed down Macintosh, it's more like an iPod Touch that's been expanded to a 10-inch screen. Like the iPhone and iTouch, it has the Safari web browser, but no Flash.

So it looks like Fred et al would have to write a new app from scratch. I don't expect that he has time to do this AND keep improving BBO Flash. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Another possibility is that Apple will decide to implement Flash on the iPad - I know that so far they haven't, but I'm hoping that there will be enough interest in websites that need Flash to get them to change their mind. I didn't care about not having BBO on the iPhone because the screen is really too small anyway, but if it was available for the iPad, that might be a reason to get one :).

Rumor is that Apple is targeting HTML5 (that can play Videos without flash).

Flash has a lot of advantages.... the big one is BBO, but not insignificant is sites like HULU, and various flash software stuff......

I would buy an ipad if it came with working flash player, but not without.

I think 90% of the use of Flash on the Internet is for video, not applications like BBO. As HotShot mentioned, many sites are migrating to HTML5 for video. So Apple doesn't have much incentive to add Flash; they can do video already, and the other uses of Flash are insignificant (in fact, they probably want to prevent them, as they want all iPad applications to come from the App Store).

My expectation is that the iSlate will be a Macintosh with the touchscreen replacing the keyboard and mouse. So anything that works on a Mac should work on the tablet.

And people thought the iPhone would be a Macintosh with a small screen that you could use for telephone calls :D
