Al_U_Card
Norway third in medal count at the olympics so far? LOL, population of like 5 million, and they are the best at EVERYTHING. So freaking sick, what a country. They live in the snow, what do you expect? They also have the best chess player, 3 of the best 10 bridge players in the world, a junior bridge team that won a gold medal recently on top of the best winter athletes, and they have a basically tiny population. It is just unreal how good Norway is at everything for it's size. Snow activities and indoor activities, two things that probably coorelate very strongly with how much snow they get. I bet they do a lot worse in the summer olympics! Btw, country that does worst in olympic medals per capita? India  Well, Norway isn't only a small country compared to the US, it is also small when compared to Canada or Sweden or Germany or Austria. But of course they have the most beautiful coastline on the world, too. "But I like the fiddly bits most!" Slartibartfast

India  Well, Norway isn't only a small country compared to the US, it is also small when compared to Canada or Sweden or Germany or Austria. But of course they have the most beautiful coastline on the world, too. This quote from The Norwegian skip (Trulson) that beat Kevin Martin for the Olympic gold in 2002: "Trulsen is also impressed with Martin, who he says has continued to improve year after year, just like the game. "Curling is like all other sports," he said. "It gets harder and what's good enough eight years ago is not good now. He's a better curler, he has more shots, more difficult shots." The victory turned Trulsen into a minor celebrity back in his home country as the infamous last-shot miss by Martin and the Norwegian celebration was played over and over on television. While it inspired Ulsrud to work to for a medal of his own, it didn't spur any growth in the sport. There are still just eight sheets of curling ice in the entire country." A lot of curling CLUBS in Canada have 8 sheets of ice!!!! Maybe Norway IS Valhalla?

Winstonm
Curling would be more popular if it added a goalie.

Winstonm
Actually, curling would be more popular if it added a jackpot alert or a goalie.
Winstonm
Also, curling needs to go to 3 or 4 days series of games, as it is silly to have so many brooms about yet not have "sweep" somewhere in the jargon.

Winstonm
Actually, what curling could really use is a Zamboni. And body checks. Maybe a red light that goes off. And penalty boxes. Skates....skates would be good....
Winstonm
Actually, this kind of curling sounds like a great game. Imagine trying to get your stone onto the house by hitting it with a curved wooden stick while standing on ice skates and having some yahoo body slam you into the boards, high-sticking his way into the penalty box, and then having a red light come on when you score and a Zamboni to clean up the ice, blood, and bone fragments? Curling WWF-style.
ggwhiz
Also, curling needs to go to 3 or 4 days series of games, as it is silly to have so many brooms about yet not have "sweep" somewhere in the jargon. Curling clubs all have liquor licences and matches of this length would involve a serious injury risk. I like the idea of a goalie though. Immediate trauma that can be dealt with by on-site paramedics.

Al_U_Card
Now, let's see.... Did Chilé make: -a pact with Satan? (Will have to check with Pat R.) -accumulate bad karma for killing off indigenous peoples? -interfere with produce and wine sales from California? -get a bad part of the (geographic) neighborhood, seismically speaking? 1960 saw the largest recorded temblor at 9.6 in the same general region with the tsunami it generated causing quite a bit of damage in Hawaii. Since the weather seems not so cold, maybe they should consider changing the country's name to Shaké?

Al_U_Card
Just so you know what the gatekeeper is trying to keep out.... McIntyre's presentation to the "commission" looking into the CRU and it's activities. http://www.climateaudit.info/pdf/mcintyre-scitech.pdf Technically adroit and very clear in it's scope and intent.
