I did a half-assed sim with this very hand and situation last year. Half-assed, meaning I gathered every 1NT opening I could find into a file and made sure it didn't have any duplicated cards  ended up with 86 hands.

No hand that would not accept a diamond invite would make game cold. Several which would accept the invite would also go down. A real sim by competent people might show differently.

I am a bit lost, reading the OP and the poll options it seems to me that there is no invite in a minor avaible.

Passing 1NT is out since this might lead to them playing 3M wich I'd really hate.

If no invite avaible I'd just transfer and pass.

yeh, I read diamond invite as the "3NT try" listed in the poll. But maybe your read is better.

Was thinking of the old fashioned 3D jump, which I don't have available, either. So, in your (my) system the choices are 3NT and drop dead in 3D. Based on my half-assed sim, perhaps the drop dead will be better more often.

Having a way to show specifically HHxxxx in a minor is a REALLY valuable response to 1NT to have, if you like reaching cold 23-point games :)

Those of you who play the 2-under transfers might consider using your two steps to show "I have a high honor in your suit" and "I don't". (In my own system, we use 1NT-2S for both the balanced raise to 2NT and the minor-suit invite, with other bids for weak-or-strong minor.)

I show an invite with diamonds. Just signing off in 3 might be better, though.

But how do you do that. I know you didn't vote for the last choice so you must be expecting partner to break the transfer but will he with just Kx?

Dunno, either it is a "3NT try" or "transfer to diamonds". Not sure how to interpret the poll options.

If partner says she has a bad hand for diamonds, I'm happy to play 3D.

Are you then saying that Kx in a 1NT opener is in of itself satisfactory for only playing 3?

oppsite such a hand, game is probably at best about 70%. obviously one would want to bid 70% games, but missing a few of them isn't going to be panic me into dispensing with the rest of my system and its benefits.

So how are you using a direct 3 bid over 1NT?
