Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, has declared his intention to remedy "the weakness of [Afghan political] institutions, the unpunished abuse of power by corrupt officials and powerbrokers, a widespread sense of political disenfranchisement and a longstanding lack of economic opportunity." Hell, we haven't been able to accomplish these goals in Chicago - where does he get off thinking he can "fix" an entire foreign country "with a couple of bullets and a few gallons of gasoline"? I am much less concerned in that country with corruption, powerbrokers than I am with lack of economic opp....read jobs.... Go Cubs! Some places are just against a strong man/woman....see L.A.
