TimG
GIB describes 3M as 6+M and 8+ TP, but in my experience GIB often has only 5M. The most recent example is tournament #2346, deal 3.
barmar
This is the subject of the thread GIB's system over 2N rebids.
arigreen
Yep. Starting in the next release, GIB will play new minor forcing in this auction. With a 6-card major, GIB will rebid the major.
TimG
Thanks, sorry I missed the other thread. In this and similar situations, the methods don't really matter to me, I just find it a bit frustrating that GIB's bidding does not meet the description. The other situation that comes quickly to mind is the 1m-1M-2M auction where GIB's description says 4M when it seems like it should say 3-4M. barmar
In the case of 1m-1M-2M, isn't that the way most humans bid? The raise normally shows 4, but sometimes you have to do it with 3 because all other bids are flawed. What really annoys me is when the robot bids its suit a THIRD time with only 5, pulling a decent 3NT to a lousy 4M.

And, some humans will always find something else to do without 4.
barmar
I think all GIB's bids should be treated as "usually". In fact, I think it may deviate even more than many humans.
