raist
your hand is K543A9842QT32- bidding goes (1H)-2C-(P) that is, LHO opens 1H, partner overcalls 2C and RHO passes what do you bid? (overcalls are generally sound)and how clear are your decisions?what are the possible bids you are thinking of and how would you rank them?scoring is IMPs and all are non-vul
whereagles
2♦, then pass if pard rebids 3♣. The reason to bid is our heart length, which makes it likely pard has a side suit.

Almost certainly partner has short ♥ and chose to overcall 2♣ rather than make a TOX

mikeh
To me, the better question is what do we do if we pass (as I think is 100% clear) and it goes double - pass - pass? The good news is that there is an excellent chance that LHO has the wrong shape to double.....may well hold too many clubs!
Siegmund
One more vote for Pass. Nothing else is remotely close IMO. mikeh does ask the more interesting question. Redoubling MIGHT be right, if partner has 4 diamonds, but I don't think there is much hope of a spade fit, and partner is gonna have a quality suit for a 2-level overcall at imps. raist
yes i thought pass was "quite" to "very" clear on this misfitbut someone said you got to keep the bidding open since you may miss a game so i was just checking

hanp
Pass is clear and imo redouble adfter the double is equally clear.
shevek
I guess pass is right but it's easy enough to construct hands for partner where you make game ♠AQ72 K7 ♦9 ♣KQJ975 Or would you have have doubled with that? If 4th hand is going to act, 2♥ in the English style has merit, played primarily as the equivalent of a takeout double, not as a good club raise.Of course a likely outcome is 2♥ - (no) - 3♣ - (X)
Fluffy
I'd pass and yes I'd be worried about missing game. If it goes double pass pass you just have to trust oyur opponents a bit, they have less strenght and are willing to let you play doubled, sounds like its time to escape. P_Marlowe
Pass. It is close, with 9HCP I usually try to find a bid, but I would go with Pass, mainly due to a lack of sensible alternatives. With kind regardsMarlowe
